Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Who are the indigos?
    • Indigo people were born en masse (about 62%) between 1969 and 1987 (With stragglers before and after – 30% were born in the 50’s).  We are different (strange or weird…) intelligent, creative and have passionate ideas and visions about how the world “should” be managed.  We are uncomfortable with rigid rules and anything that limits our creativity which can create issues at school and in the workplace.  We have many interests and may desire to explore many of them at the same time!  We are “multipotentialites“. We are mindful, connected with nature, trees, animals and we are excellent at “reading” other people.  We are often perceived as “weird” and mis- or under-understood..   Many of us are Highly Sensitive People (HSP) and we may each find different ways to re-center.  At barefoot indigo, we support you in finding the ways that resonate most deeply with you.
  • What services do you provide?
    • Our family centered services include:
      • Programs for all members of the family to explore their many interests and talents at the same time so the waiting-around-for-the-kids-to-finish-their-activity-so-we-can-drive-to-the-next is over….
      • Meals! Yes, we will have meals, you may desire to prepare them with us!  We use our own organic garden and greenhouse for most of our produce and we also will provide meals for those with allergies and sensitivities. You can enjoy the meals with us on location or you can bring your meal home.
      • Amazing locations close to and in balance with nature, especially great for those of us who are sensitive to harsher environments…
      • Facilities that are welcoming and accessible for those with special “needs” and “abilities”.
      • Service in any way that is desired by local families, an ear to listen, a group of likeminded people, other families with children in the same age groups as yours, a space where we can all come and take a deep breath and realize that we are together and that we can DO this!
    • Our greater community services include:
      • Providing a location where local teachers of all traits can share their talents.
      • Providing a point of display and sales for local artisans of all kinds.
      • Providing a space where we as a community can work together and create a support network where we collaborate and expand our ideas and visions.
  • Where are you located?
    • Our first barefoot indigo communities will be located on the North Shore of Long Island, NY, about midway between Manhattan and the Hamptons and in California, just North of San Francisco.
